Poyer started playing volleyball in his junior year of high school in Hawaii and soon after immediately knew it would be his life's passion. In 2015, Poyer was the assistant coach on both Forza1 18-1s and 15-1s. In 2016 Poyer was the head coach of the 16-2s and assistant on 17-2s. In 2017 Poyer head coached the 16 National Red team. He also coaches technical classes and works with numerous players privately.
Poyer is also the JV coach at Vista Murrieta High school. When you watch Poyer coach you can see his attention to detail and ability to break down skills that take a player or a team to another level.
Poyer played for four years at the collegiate level as an outside hitter - 2 years at Orange Coast College and 2 years at Hope International University.
After his eligibilty was up his desire to grow with the game continued and Poyer began coaching. In his first year, he became the 1st assistant coach, and the strength and conditioning coach at Hope International University. Poyer found success in this role and held this position for 6 years for both the men's and women's programs.
Beyond his college coaching experience, Poyer has Co-Head Coached at Fresh Start Volleyball Club for the past two years. He was also the strength and conditioning Director for the club.
